As the title states, my drive is not being detected in Disk Management, however it is detected in both the BIOS and Device Manager. I've also checked Storage Spaces and it does not appear in there either.

Here are my specs:

  • CPU - Intel i9-13900K
  • MOBO - MSI Z790I Edge Wifi (manual here)
  • SSD - Sabrent Rocket Q4 2TB (in slot "M2_1")
  • RAM - Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x32GB 6000MT/s
  • GPU - EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 (10G)

Notes:

  • The drive is listed as "Compatible" according to this table on MSI's website for this motherboard
  • In Device Manager, it is shown in "Other" devices
  • The drive is installed in slot "M2_3", setting was "Auto", forced to "Gen4". Does not work in either mode
  • There was previously a different NVMe installed in this same slot that I had no problems with. Specifically, a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB.

It's really strange the drive is listed in Device Manager under "other devices". Open a command prompt and type

diskpart

list disk

Is the WD SSD listed?

If not the only thing I can think of is to uninstall the SSD in other devices via right click and then reboot.

No, it is not listed in diskpart. I'm not understanding why it's being identified correctly in BIOS and Device Manager, but not anywhere else. The BIOS is on the latest update. Am I missing some sort of driver?

I couldn't find anything regarding a driver for the SSD. The only thing I noticed on the compatibility list was the WD drives were not larger than 2TB but that shouldn't make any difference.

Are those blue question marks next to the the devices under Other Devices? If you right click the WD in the list does it give the option to update the driver?

Yes, they are blue question marks. There doesn't appear to be any available drivers when attempting to update.

Somewhat. I've used Ubuntu and Kali. In other words, I feel comfortable using Linux.
