I used to be a cigarette smoker but switched to vaping around seven years ago.
The differences between the two for your health are drastic to say the least, no more 'smokers cough', no more getting short of breath, etc.
I am definitely much healthier for making the switch.
The two oils used in vaping are not addictive in themselves, it's the nicotine that is added that is the addictive content.
You can buy e-liquid without any nicotine added, but usually only online, shops generally sell it with different levels of added nicotine.
Whilst the long term effect of vaping are not yet known the one thing that is definite is that it is not as harmful for your lungs and heart as cigarettes are.
Most of the medical concern about vaping these days is over the nicotine content, or regarding 'counterfeit' vaping liquid, produced who knows where, that may contain toxic substances or even heavy metals.
Then there are those who will add drugs to their liquid, similar to adding to a cigarette and smoking it or using a bong. You are never going to stop drug use.
There's also a set of idiots who will try to vape cooking oil or other oils, there's not much you can do about such nutters either.
One of the biggest concers at the moment is the rise in the sale and use of 'disposabe' vapes.
These are thrown away after a couple of days which is causing a growing mountain of plastic and battery waste
PS. You may have heard of 'Popcorn Lung' in relation to vaping, and whilst that can be caused by vaping cooking oils, or marijuana (CBD oil), the condition gets it name from workers at popcorn factories who used to breathe in the oil vapour off the popcorn. (So should we ban popcorn?)
The main chemical responsible for popcorn lung is diacetyl, there are others such asacetaldehyde in marijuana.
Ddiacetyl is banned in vaping liquid in Europe, but may still be in liquids produced in the US or elsewhere.
