I see the system process (nt kernel and system) using 100 CPU. I checked there is no windows update running.

then I restarted and checked the boot menu suddenly there was no floppy disk drive, realtek network lan and cd/dvd drive. previously there were 7 options and now there are only 4.

1. is it possible to change the boot priority order through nt kernel and system?

2. how to restore the missing 3 boot options?

My first guess would be the CMOS battery.  If the original has been in this system since purchase...it would seem to be a high probability that it's now failing.

Hi:

Is this the same Win 7 computer?

It's certainly up to you to seek help simultaneously in different forums.

The rationale for asking is merely to determine what other advice is being offered, to avoid duplication of effort and/or working at "cross purposes" unbeknownst to the helpers elsewhere.

Respectfully submitted

thank you the problem has been resolved.

the battery I used turned out to be fake / cheap

after buying a more expensive new one back to normal.
