I've had this M-Audio rev4 sound card kicking around for years. I used to use a 5.1 when there was a driver for it. Great sound. Have to look and see if I still have that one. In any case I'm not understanding why people advertise these old cards on ebay if no driver is available. Is there a substitute driver hiding somewhere ? The reason I'm asking about this is that my sound is a bit distorted. It seems like VLC started the trouble so I uninstalled it and I'm hoping I didn't damage my files. Thanks

Hi, you never post the system info.  Please be in a habit of doing so as it is needed sometimes to answer your questions without searching your posts.

Now we will discuss your Posts. 4 Sound and maybe more out of the 20 or so posts this year.  Myself am not going to search for your info

as you did not answer my previous question/suggestion/throw it out there on July 14th : https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/787200/lost-my-sound/

Ok, so that is nice M-Audio rev4 sound card but that is not the cards name.   M-Audio is the maker what is the model of the card ??? if know it then is it here : https://m-audio.com/support/drivers

Your System Information; well your system came with on-board sound which you have been using so you need drivers for the branded system/model or the motherboard make/model and can maybe be found.

They maybe can be found but Windows 7 is long dead and is dying on you.  Time to move on for all our sake.

@Rayoptics:

Sellers advertise items on eBay to make money.
Plain and simple.

Should probably just throw the card in the trash. Thanks for your straightforward answer Momma :)

No I was wrong ...... It wasn't the player or sound card causing a problem. It was a noisey potentiometer on my Sansui amplifier

Glad you fixed your issue.

For future and when speaking of your files you do not mention the extension.  But that is for other Topics.

PK I'm not sure what extension you  are referring to. Other: When a person posts a screenshot of their specs like I did, I'm thinking this isn't adequate. I know

that speccy thing creates a VERY LONG file in the clipboard. How do you properly (and safely) share that ? Thanks

You just paste the URL

install Speccy Free : https://m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/speccy.html
Use Custom Install
At the Top Left Corner of Speccy --> Click File and then Click Publish Snapshot Report, a window will popup and Click YES. --> Another popup will appear and then Click "Copy To Clipboard" then Paste that "link" to your next reply in your thread.

A file extension is , example .mov, .jpg, .exe

You said something like wanting to save your files.  So need to know the extension of the files to figure the best way to do so.
