I Recently started getting messages which stopped me from viewing YouTubes because of an ad blocker. I'm using Firefox / mozilla and I turned off the ad blocker but it made no difference. I also have Privacy Badger which I didn't turn off, but would that really matter ? Thanks  :(

Did you uninstall the ad-clocking program?

The message you posted seems quite clear re the website stance.

Did you report the problem to the website?

Curiosity indicates you should say which ad-blocker you use, which operating system, and which browser.  Other users view YouTube videos AND have an adblocker and can view the videos without trouble and without obstacles.  I for example use W10, either Firefox or incognito Google Chrome, and ABP.  No trouble viewing y.t. videos and not found any need to disable nor remove adblocker.

Hello Louis

I turned uBlockOrigin off after I got the message. Didn't seem to make a difference. I couldn't find it in the control panel (unless it has a different name there). I did report the problem but you already know how warm and friendly Google is. Oh did you need help ? We see what the problem is .... Try this. HaHa

If you are signed in to Google try signing out before viewing videos. If that doesn't allow you

to view the videos then once you have signed out delete Google cookies before going to view

videos.

I sign in and immediately sign out of Google after checking my Gmail accounts. I have no problem

for now viewing videos without turning off my ad blocker....Adblock Plus on Firebox browser. I use

NoScript, too, which blocks a few Google scripts.

I'm pretty sure the "ad-blocker block" is being rolled out...
So it's possible that some folks aren't seeing it yet.

In addition to the many workarounds already proposed, here's another, easy one:
Install a different browser (e.g. Brave) without add-ons (especially ad blockers).
Use it "just" for YT.
Simple and obviates the song & dance of trying to keep ahead of YT's ever-changing ad-blocking challenges.
This approach works well for me.

Just a thought.

Cheers

OOPS!

My bad.
I just realized this topic is in the Win7 section.

If the Topic Starter really is going online in 2023 under Windows 7, browsing solutions may be more challenging. Fewer and fewer browsers support obsolete, insecure Windows 7.
Ditto for websites.

This is a good reason to consider upgrading to Win 10, buying a new computer OR moving to Linux.

For the sake of clarity...I use Win 7...and Firefox with ublock add-on...and I have no problems accessing anything at the youtube website.

Gen Info.

I'm surprised. But it's good to know it still works on Win7.
That eliminates the obsolete-OS variable from the troubleshooting.
Thanks for the correction.

This is a deliberate policy change being trialled  by Google. You have a choice - disable any ad-blockers, watch YouTube for free and be bombarded with irrelevant ads, or take out a YouTube subscription and watch ad-free. It has not yet gone out to general release so some will get it, some won't.

I'm not sure if your reply was addressed to me (or to everyone on the thread)?

But, yes, of course, I'm well aware of the ad-blocking blocking issues at YT (see reply #6).

I presume most everyone is dealing with this, one way or the other by now?

If so, I apologize that I was not clear: I was referring to my surprise that YT still supports Win7 (and the older browsers still compatible with that OS).

As I understand it, it's getting harder and harder to surf the net with Win7...

I apologize if I misspoke or caused confusion. :)

Cheers

Maybe keep the ad. blockers, but disable them for YouTube.
