While it might be tempting to use a free VPN on your Windows 10 machine, we don’t recommend it. Free VPNs pose a risk to both your security and privacy. Windows 10 does indeed collect private data, which Microsoft refers to as “telemetry”. Apparently, “Microsoft collects data to help you do more”. Although a VPN cannot stop Microsoft collecting data on your machine, Microsoft does give users some control over the data it collects.
