After completing a file download using DownloadHelper, I got the message - no media to process. Two files had been created, an .mp4 and .part. As the file wouldn't open, I deleted both. However, the .part file keeps popping back up. I ran File Shredder. That told me I either do not have the necessary privileges, or the file is in use. I ran Bitdefender bit it found nothing. I posted on a DownloadHelper forum to be advised this is a Firefox issue. It might well be, I haven't gone to the forums there yet. I performed a chkdsk on boot, and also rebooted in Safe Mode. I deleted the file there but it immediately returned. I can access the Properties, rename it, etc.

I could simply ignore it, but it does nag. Any help appreciated.

If DownloadHelper is a Firefox extension/add-on disable it. Reboot, and see if the file deletes.

If the above does not work can you delete it in Safe Mode?

Hi John,

Result. Disabling the add-on appears to have worked. BTW, it wouldn't delete in Safe Mode.

Thanks for your swift and excellent help :thumbup2:

John's advice is always "spot on".

FYI:

Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 21H2

As I expect you already know, Windows 10 21H2 reached end of support back in June 2023.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-home-and-pro

So, it no longer receives vital security patches or other updates.

It would be advisable for the sake of the safety and security of your system and your personal/financial info to update to 22H2, the last and most current version of Windows 10.

Just a friendly suggestion

Ref: update to 22H2.

If only! I got error code 0x80070643. Tried once to fix that with no success. Will not now connect to find updates. Gave up. Avoiding Win 11. Horrible and detestable (my partner has it, tears her hair out, has an unresolvable problem with file copying). Waiting for 12. OK, I'll give it another go by downloading manually.

Update. Finally managed to download the update manually. Now 22H2. Ta for the nudge.

Update. Since the 22H2 update, I'm being bombarded by, er, updates. I'm getting one a day. I thought this was going to be a one-off, final, update, seeing Win 10 is no longer supported, but hey. I'll repost this under a new thread, because we're off topic.

Windows 10 22H2 is supported until October 2025.

Windows 10 21H2 support ended last year.
