No preview for images in Windows 10 Explorer

Hi. I'm on a new installation of Windows 10 and I find that in Explorer, when the Preview Pane is open, I do not get any previews for image files like jpg or png. It works for docx and xlsx and pdf.

 

Anyone know what might be behind that?

In addition to viewing thumbnails in File Explorer I use XnViewMP.  I leave several instances open each with a different folder.
