Hey!!

Whenever I do Winkey+I, it says updates are pending or something. There is a yellow (!) here, but when I check there is nothing and it changes to this:
mhlDeb.png

Is there a way to get it default on this when no updates are there?

try uninstalling recently installed updates, (or specific one you know which are problem)

reboot system,

and then check for and install all new and removed updates, unless all are installed again.

Hmm, there isn't an easier workaround. Because, if there isn't I'm ok to just check it more.

Do a System Restore to a date prior to the problem.  I would then run sfc /scannow.

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted and incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

This will need to be run from the Command Prompt (Admin) using an Administrator account.

Press the Windows and the R keys together to open the Run box.

Type in cmd, then press the Shift, Ctrl, and Enter keys together to open the command prompt as an administrator.

When the Elevated Command Prompt opens type in sfc /scannow, then press Enter.

This will take a while, have patience and allow it finish. Stopping this scan could damage files.

In the Command Prompt you can see a progress bar which runs from the left to right showing the percentage of the scan. When it gets to 90% keep an eye on the finish. If no errors are found you will see the message Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations at the end of the scan, this means that no file corruption was found.

If the scan finds any integrity violation please post the log of this scan. To do this open the Start menu and select This PC, click Local Disk (C:) If C: is not the letter for your ssd/hdd substitute it for your drive letter.

Click Windows, then Logs, then CBS.

The logs have the date and time that a log was made, select the date and time that you ran the sfc /scannow scan. Locate your scan and copy it and paste it in your topic.

temporarily disable any security apps or software installed on your computer, check for updates via Windows Updates on your Settings. Install the pending updates again, and restart your computer to see if the popup screen disappears.

Hi,

Somehow, when I disable my security program the issue doesn't appear. No updates were found, so can't install any.

What antivirus are you running?  If you aren't using Windows Defender uninstall the antivirus you have been using and enable Windows Defender.

Hi, informing them will do no good as this is an MS issue, for some time MS has been improving it's security, so much so that now all anyone needs is windows defender, it offers all the security you need, and as a result most third party AV's have suffered considerable income loss. Because MS move the goal posts so regularly it has become almost impossible for third party AV's to keep up. This is by design, and a good thing to, since the AV industry is something no one wants then the  sooner we get rid of them the better. You will only increasingly have problems until you revert to defender it is all most western govm'ts use.

We can assist you with your update issue, first we need to know the status.

Go to search and type:- cmd, next press ctrl+shift+enter keys, an elevated cmd prompt will open please copy paste this cmd:-

dism /online /get-packages > 0 & notepad 0

Please copy the notepad output here.
