Does this error occur before Windows boots? This sounds like a BIOS/Hard Drive password?

Thanks. It is something that people set up in case the computer gets stolen, they cannot get the password, when it boots after a few seconds you have to put in the password or you cannot access the computer'

I assume this is a laptop? If this is a hard drive password there is no way to recover the data if the password is forgotten. If a BIOS password you can contact the manufacturer, if a laptop, with proof of purchase and they may be able to give you a master password.

If I remember correctly if a hard drive password is set then even formatting the drive on a different computer is not possible unless you use a linux command and that may not work.

Did you set the password in your UEFI or BIOS settings?
