I am somewhat new to Windows Server. I have a situation, where a Windows Server 2019 is running a DHCP server for the LAN. My preference is to run the DHCP server on the router/internet gateway appliance.
Is it okay to simply turn off the DHCP server on the machine running Server, or will it interfere with Windows clients binding to the domain hosted by the Server?

Are all computers part of a domain?
They are part of the domain that’s hosted by the Windows Server that’s also providing DHCP.

Hosting the dhcp on the router will likely break the domain
That’s what I had been afraid of.

If you run DHCP Server on the server, then the server is a single point of failure. If you run it on the router, the router becomes a single point of failure.
Can you afford another PC, dedicated to be DHCP duties? It doesn't require a ton of resources.

How you run DHCP is a design decision. If your DHCP servers are running on Windows, they need to be part of the domain. But it's not required to run DHCP and DNS on Windows; you can use Linux.

It looks like I am getting an ambiguous message here.
Let me rephrase my question: Will my domain-hosting server break, if I turn off the DHCP server on the Windows Server but run it on separate hardware?
