How should I get a modern browser onto my XP VM, if possible?

If I can, I'd like to browse the Internet on Windows XP.

I'm using VirtualBox and Windows XP Professional 64x

Not sure what a "modern browser" is, but take a look at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/48.0/system-requirements/ .

Never mind, I underestimated Opera 12.14, and can now use even the websites with that dang "https" thing that prevents older browsers from using the site.
