The node environment variable is not set

Hey guys

I have a Windows XP computer that's failing! I only use it for a very important software for my business. Unfortunately, this software can only run on XP.

I just received a "renewed" XP machine from Amazon.

Now, there are 2 versions of the software, the main one, #1 and the other, #2.

I transferred both from the old computer to the renewed one. Version #2 works okay, but the main version which is the most important version( has all the data, etc) is not working!

I am getting these messages:

"The node environment variable is not set
This computer has not been properly set up for this program to run on a network"

The error message sounds like either your software was designed to run on a network, OR  the computer came from a business which was on a network. Or both.

First, before anything else you do, either backup your data off-computer, or make a complete backup image of your #1 computer and store it off-computer. Protect your data first before you start messing with the machine.

Yes, I have already created a backup.

It software that manages information for a auto repair shop, retrieve stop info, print invoices, receipts, create estimates, etc.

So, I tried as suggested and it didn't work but the message has "magically" disappeared!! I think If I can connect both computers, it could possibly work.

Does anyone know how to connect 2 Windows XP computers? I have tried searching on the internet but haven't found anything specific to XP.

Locally I guess, so that I will be able to access the main software, ST#1 from the newer computer.
