I bought a Soundblaster CT4700 on eBayand installed it in my Windows 98 machine and Windows 98 said that there are no drivers for it so I downloaded the latest Soundblaster drivers from the Creative website but when I try to install the drivers, I ALWAYS get the following error message, setup could not detect any sound blaster audio card on your system

but NOTHING could be further from the truth! The Soundblaster IS installed and it is identified as an "PCI Audio Device" in Device Manager but setup seems to think otherwise.

A Google search on the error message says you need Windows 98 and does not work on DOS or Windows 7. But the thing is, I AM running Windows 98 and I am NOT running in Dos Mode or anything but the problem persists!!

Unknown Device Program give the following Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1274&DEV_5000&SUBSYS_4C4C4942&REV_01\BUS_00&DEV_0F&FUNC_00

Which Google says "did not match any documents"

Google seems to think that these drivers do not exist,.

Where can I find drivers for: PCI\VEN_1274&DEV_5000&SUBSYS_4C4C4942&REV_01\BUS_00&DEV_0F&FUNC_00 ?

try manually installing the driver via right clicking and update driver then point the installer to that downloaded zip that is extracted

That driver installs but still no sound and audio card is still NOT identified.

It is a custom built Windows 98 with Auto-patcher on a K7S5A Pro motherboard

What PCI port is it in, if its in the one closest to the CPU move it to the one below that or to the very last one.  I have had to do this numerous times with SoundBlaster cards to get them to work.

Move it down one more, this is why I stopped using Creative Labs cards back in 2004.  Every 6 months I had to do this to make it work.

But I was trying to use a good creative card recommended by a friend

I tried it in every slot.

According to a post at Vogons this card was able to work using Ensoniq drivers. I world first uninstall the PCI Audio Device in Device Manager. Don't reboot. Then install the Ensoniq driver.

Download the zip file. The zipped file has an iso. Burn that to a disk. The basic driver is in

\AUDIO\ENGLISH\WIN95DRV\

Those drivers ARE NOT working either. It IS SAME card. Numbers on it are same and everything but I am being told that it does not detect a Soundblaster card

Sorry, I did not give the link to the driver. You downloaded this driver?
