Hello folks!  :apple:

If I visit this webpage

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255427558?sortBy=best

(A purely random example, albeit quite a recent post)

I am shown as being NOT 'Signed In'. Blue button top right.

Screenshot:-   https://i.ibb.co/JrLj7HB/Screenshot-2024-02-25-at-07-12-09.png

However, if I wish to 'Vote' - using the up or down arrows - it appears that I

CAN do so.

It is only when I opt to 'Reply' that I have to sign in.

Do you experience the same thing?

I'm simply curious! Please advise.

Thanks.

Not entirely unreasonable and not entirely unusual. 'Likes' and 'Dislikes' are totally insignificant, unimportant and- apart from the OP possibly - does anybody care ?  However, posting in a technical support forum can have consequences so it is completely reasonable that you should sign in before making replies. On a number of occasions I have seen well intentioned posts on BC that were simply wrong and on a couple of occasions I have seen simply malicious posts that would have wrecked the OP's computer had they been followed. But on all these occasions because the posters were signed in we had somebody to correct.

I must point out that this is Bleeping Computer - aka BC - and we have no great concern over what happens on other forums, that is their business  This section of BC is for the discussion and help in topics concerning problems with computers running the Mac OS. It is not for discussing the problems and oddities of other forums.

Thank you for setting me back on course, Chris.

What I have been trying to discover is whether or not users of Mac computers should download and use a software programme called EtreCheck (available from Etresoft.com)
The product was once available from the Apple App Store but it was withdrawn from there some years ago now.
Do you have any experience of the use of EtreCheck yourself? If not, perhaps you are aware of other folk posting here who might be able to provide their opinion.

My thanks for permitting me to voice my concerns here.

David
