They are connected to the front of my PC with a Jack Plug, and they have never failed to play when I'm watching a downloaded movie.

However, (they are working OK at the present) over the last few months, on Facebook, they have failed to work, more often than not.

They were working Thursday/Friday but not Saturday and this morning. From about 4pm they have been working.

My download speed is a fairly constant at between 45 to 52mbps, so it's not that.

It's not critical but I'd love to cure the problem.

My guess that it's something Facebook related

On many sites I have to unmute the video for the sound to be on. They play but no sound.

Unmuting seems to make no difference. They are Clips of Ballet or wild life, so it makes little sense for them to be silent.

Thanks, and a Happy New Year to you

Weird: This morning I was up at 6am, as usual - No headache, and booted my PC.

No sounds on any of Facebook's offerings. Did my emails and wandered through our overnight offerings.

Then made breakfast and returned to my PC at 9.30am - Everything working fine.

How/Why - I don't have a scoobie. I thought that Computers were logical machines

Is it only Facebook that's missing sound?

Yes, as far as I can find but then, I don't visit any other sites that display videos, so I'm not able to comment

I would suspect a weak cable connection, with a stronger possibility being near the connector or near the headphone.  If the problem occurs often, I would recommend that you use other headphones or even speakers just to see if the same problem will occur again.

CD: They work perfectly when I'm running a Movie.

Just Facebook & Instagram

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that it's something to do with my relationship to Meta, although what, I have no idea.

Is this on Facebook and Instagram within a browser, or standalone Apps?

If Browser, try a different one - Edge, Chrome, Firefox etc.......

If Apps, then as they are both owned by Meta it could be a personal vendetta.....

Or, what is your sound hardware, and do you get the same problem with the line-out socket on the back of your PC?

Well, it's not a cable problem.

When it next occurs on Edge, I shall switch to Firefox or Chrome and see if it's Edges fault.

I'm having no problems at the present - Touch wood

Well, all this week they have been playing up. Working/Not working. More often, not working.

Yesterday I got so pissed off with them, I went onto eBay and ordered a new pair - Due to arrive just after the weekend.

They have been working perfectly, ever since I clicked the "Order Now" button!
