Hello everyone,

I want to upgrade my computer, only keeping the PSU and the case, I have done some research and I would like to ask if someone can take a look at the specs?

1) Is the i5 enough for gaming and streaming or would I be better of with an I7 14700KF?

2) GPU, is there much difference betweend ROG and TUF? (The price difference is about 160 dollars)

3) Can I overclock with the memory in the future?

CPU ; Intel core I5 13600KF 3.5Ghz (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/230494/intel-core-i513600kf-processor-24m-cache-up-to-5-10-ghz/specifications.html)

CPU cooler ; Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black

Motherboard ; ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WIFI (https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-f-gaming-wifi-model/)

Memory ; Corsair 32GB DDR5-6000Mhz CL30 (2x16GB) (https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/memory/cmh32gx5m2b6000z30k/vengeance-rgb-32gb-2x16gb-ddr5-dram-6000mt-s-c30-amd-expo-memory-kit-cmh32gx5m2b6000z30k)

SSD ; Samsung 990 PRO 1 TB

GPU ; ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4070Ti 12GB GDDR6X

https://rog.asus.com/graphics-cards/graphics-cards/rog-strix/rog-strix-rtx4070ti-o12g-gaming-model/

or

Corsair 850 watt, which model exactly - is this PSU you have  ATX 5.0  capable?

Both of the selected RTX 4070 TI will need the newest 1x16 connector,  not the usual 8-pin connectors.

TUF is always good, and the Strix is more elitist.

The motherboard link shown gave me  Page Not Found.

This one works for me:

https://rog.asus.com/ca-en/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-f-gaming-wifi-model/

Can you overclock the memory, yes with the correct RAM.

Intel Core i5 14600k or  i7 14700K?

Dropping that much money anyways, then you may as well spend the extra money and get the i7. But the i5 will suffice for streaming and gaming.

Contact Corsair and ask if they have a special adaptor for the Nvidia 4xxx series for your specific PSU.

If not then buy a new ATX 5.0 PSU if wanting to use the RTX 4070 TI series cards.

Thanks! I will contact them and ask about that special adaptor for the graphics card.

I don't really follow the hardware world anymore, I always buy a new computer after 5 years and sell my older hardware. Would you go for a lower end rig? I mainly use it for gaming FPS games like Counter strike 2, Call of duty, and games like Remnant 2, I play on 1440p.

You are welcome.

Me personally for your rig?

Well no, I still have an OK desktop ATM. But thanks anyway.

See details here https://valid.x86.fr/h782eh

Maybe build a new one in the 2024 Fall/Winter.

Oh no, I meant would you go for a different configuration if you were in my place from the specs I posted? I will mainly use it to play games (1440p) and streaming.

Ok then.. sorry!

I suppose I maybe go for the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (with maybe a 650/670 E type of board but not necessarily as a B650 ATX  would do ok too). It is a very good gaming CPU for most games.

And maybe instead get  the NVidia RTX 4070 as it is a very good 1440p card and is very efficient and doesn't have that much of a power draw.  Or for other possible choices, the AMD RX 7800XT or 7900XT for more rasterization power (but less for ray tracing).

(AMD cards still use the 8-pin connectors)

Added: But starting  next month is the beginning of nVidia's newest graphic cards, namely the new Supers series.. 4070 Super, 4070 Ti Super and a 4080 Super.

And a 4070 Super or 4070 Ti Super maybe of interest for you!

Also the RAM selected is more designed for AMD's EXPO, whereas you would want the Intel XMP memory profile.

https://www.corsair.com/ca/en/p/memory/cmh32gx5m2b6000z30k/vengeance-rgb-32gb-2x16gb-ddr5-dram-6000mt-s-c30-amd-expo-memory-kit-cmh32gx5m2b6000z30k

and instead get Intel XMP memory something like

https://www.gskill.com/products/1/165/374/Trident-Z5-RGB-DDR5-Intel-XMP

(and yes the GSkill Trident is very good memory)

Also that motherboard doesn't specify support for 14th gen Intel, but I suspect it does.

A cheaper build with RTX 4070..

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler  ($33.90 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard  ($209.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory  ($114.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Asus TUF GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB Video Card  ($629.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1377.87

And this RTX 4070 still uses the 8-pin connectors so you could reuse the Corsair PSU and skip buying another PSU.
