Will a PCIE 4.0 graphics card work

I went to PC parts picker but couldn't tell if a PCIE 4.0 graphics card (ASUS GEForce RTX 3070)

will work in the PCIE X 16-1 slot on the ASUS B650 E-F mobo?

Ooops!  The video card (according to the Asus tech support guy) will not work in that slot.  Guess we'll start again.
