Ok. I've found a Dell for which I am sending a link. It is at Walmart.com at $167. It seems to be a new unit but the price is almost too low for new. I can afford this if it is what I need. Im too broke to even pay attention! So maybe this one will work. Thanks for all your patients, folks.

A Dell Optiplex 7010 is a 3rd generation processor and is about 11 years old and even though it is sold with Windows 11, it is not supported for Win 11.

This is another scam seller on Walmart's marketplace selling computers with Win 11 that should not have 11 on it.

That computer originally came with Win 7 or 8 when new.

This is really confusing. I Googled "will a Dell 7010 it accept Windows 11. The resultsthat came up state that it will, according to Dell, accept Windows 11,but there are some "buts in there it seems. According to one post, Dell resurrected the 7010 ten years after the original 7010. So how am I to interpret all that mumbo-jumbo?

I spent significant time looking for the least expensive options that can do Win 11 officially and posted those options in your other topics.

The normal home user can't. I have been selling and repairing computers for a long time so I can tell what is what when SHADY sellers are just trying to dump off old computers on trusting buyers.

Here is one last stab at offering you a computer. As long as you do not have demanding programs or games and do not store lots of pictures, music and videos on it the following will work.

If your current monitor uses a VGA connection you will also need an VGA to display port adapter.

This may be too late for your purchase but might help others looking at the thread.

DELL computer names do not tell you what year or version of components are inside. As a long time DELL user, I always look for the specs of the offered machine. Porthos is right.

It is similar to saying you want a Mustang or an iPhone; look for the processor and video card and disk drive details.

DELL Outlet is a good place to compare models and components. Given Microsoft now requiring a minmum capability for Windows 11, you should probably look at nothing older than 4 years. There are several sites that walk you through installing 11 on older computers but you need to be somewhat familiar and comfortable with workarounds and applications that will inspect the computer's details.

Just to add to what is a borderline necro-thread, Windows 11 24H2 will enforce hardware requirements:

https://www.ghacks.net/2024/02/12/windows-11-24h2-to-enforce-hardware-requirement/

The existing workarounds/hacks on unsupported hardware will no longer work.

So, if shopping for a used or refurbished PC, make sure the hardware specs support Windows 11.
Plenty of unscrupulous sellers have duped unsuspecting buyers into purchasing used computers that cannot run 11.

I have an Optiplex 7010, dual-booting Win 7 and Win 10.  When I go to Windows Update, it consistently tells me that my system does not meet Win 11 criteria for upgrading.  I believe the Windows Update mechanism.

Although rather old, the system runs earlier versions of Windows fine.  The fact that Win 11 has been installed does not change the fact that Win 11 is not recommended for this particular Dell system.

The issue here is the OP wants a Win 11 compatible computer for less than $200 and that is hard.

The following will work if the drive capacity will work.

FWIW, the OP has not replied to this thread in over 3 months.

So, this might all be moot by now?

Perhaps he will post back with an status update?
