Hello everyone!

I'm looking for a new laptop. I'll primarily be using it for Excel work with large datasets, watching movies, and browsing the internet for information. I also use instant messengers and occasionally run Photoshop. Right now, I'm considering the ASUS Vivobook 15, but I'm not sure about the specs that would be most suitable for my needs.

I'd really appreciate your advice!

Without actually knowing the exact hardware configuration - this was never included in your post. It is difficult to advise.

However a quick google revealed an Intel Core i3 with 8GB RAM with a 256GB SSD, if this is in fact the same notebook being discussed.

As such that i3 should be replaced with an Intel Core i5, 8GB should be at least 16GB RAM and the SSD should be at least 512 GB IF YOU ARE  doing Photoshop on a regular basis. As for the other activities that Intel Core i3 base model will be OK - nothing great but will be doing OK for your needs or regular usages.

Also a dedicated graphic card will help speed up any Photoshop tasks, but that cost extra. Depends really on your Photoshop usage - occasion use or a lot of photo editing is the determining factor.

Thank you for your reply. Now I have a better understanding of what to search for!
I don't use Photoshop very frequently. It might be once every 3 weeks, maybe even less.

The Intel Core i3 will suffice then. It is lower in price (and cost) and will still do all of your tasks.

Although the Intel Core i5 is more preferable.

But anyway if possible still get the 16GB RAM and a bigger SSD (512GB or (1TB if at possible)) anyways as these are  very much required to have a smooth running laptop.

And this larger storage (SSD) will be needed for storing the working images in the software -  it will be needed after a while of long usage of the Photoshop.
