I want to replace a client's old laptop for him. He's been using it as a desktop replacement with external keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Space is a serious issue so I'd like to get a mini desktop, one of those amazingly small (about 6"x6"x3") units. The Intel NUCs seem to be out of production and were pretty pricey compared to other minis with comparable features. My concern is reliability and performance. Beelink and Minisforum seem to have machines that might work. The major manufacturers have machines that might work for us but they're pretty pricey. I'm wary of some of the brands I'm not familiar with.
So can folks suggest a mini with a recent version i5, 16 gb of ram, 256 to 512 ssd, Graphics should be good but he's not a gamer so a business graphics card would be fine. A reliable, quiet cooling fan is important. USB A, C and 3 are needed. WiFi 6 would be a plus and also an RJ45 jack. Video can be hdmi or display port. Bluetooth also.
Would love to get a good machine for $400 or so but can go higher for better design and manufacture.
Thanks.
