Greetings,

I have a brand new build of Win11 22H2. I am attempting to install an application that requires "Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Shared Management Objects (x64)" which requires assembly of "Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version 8.0.50727.6229, publickeytoken='1fc8b3b9a1e1834b for amd64 type win32."

Looking at the log files of both the installer and the c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log (as it told me to) I am getting:

What I've tried:

  • Installation on a second computer with same WIn11 version. Same results.
  • Ensured all apps are installed as "run as admin" as I'm an admin.
  • Run sfc /scannow (no errors)
  • Run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth ("Restore operation completed successfully")
  • Run an installer cvredist2005_x64 directly and same error.
  • Ensured no pending WIn updates.

Same app installs fine on Windows 10. There is currently no C++ Distributable installed as viewable in Installed Apps. I have tried RevoUninstaller also and it cannot find anything to uninstall.

Does this appear to be a permissions issue or a broken registry key or something else? Is there a way to flush whatever version of C++ 2005 it thinks it's seeing?

Hi, Welcome to BC.

Dism should be run 1st so SFC can use any files brought in that are not corrupted.

So as per title : https://community.progress.com/s/article/P163238  And this seems to make sense : https://www.makeuseof.com/microsoft-visual-c-0x80240017-error/

As it seem know what you are doing : https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=Microsoft.VC80.CRT%2C+version+8.0.50727.6229%2C+publickeytoken%3D%271fc8b3b9a1e1834b+for+amd64+type+win32 see if anything here fixes your issue.

Do uninstall if corrupted.

No need to uninstall previous stuff not associated.

I got the same error on the same Windows 11 build.

Couldn't find a helpful solution.

I would be very happy to receive further tips and solutions.

Thank you for the response and apology for the late reply. Nothing I've tried thus far has worked. Any other ideas?
