Whatever you do, don't buy a Stream, sooner or later they will drive you nuts. If you must buy one of them go with the Target marketed one. It will take a little longer to drive you nuts as it has more internal memory.

If you must consider a device with the restrictions imposed by one of these I suggest you consider either a 10" or 11" tablet. At least if you buy a tablet you know going in that you are not buying a fully fledged laptop.

You are at perfect liberty to buy whatever you want. As you are choosing from only these two then my advice stands - buy the second one as it has more built in memory.

My opinion of this type of device stands as well !

Or, save up a little bit more, and buy what will work for you for several years.  :)

I spent $1100 on a business-level laptop some years ago, then $1600 on another business-level laptop just a few years ago.  Both are running aok, Windows 7 gets a bit cranky from time to time, however, over all, both are still active.  I'm only mentioning this to indicate a remote possibility of quality in, quality out.  I may have spent too much for each laptop, however, both are still working.  I was watching an iCollege online class "PC bench-building" I think dated between 2009 - 2017? -- a medium desktop was bench-built for $800-900.

Buy what you believe will serve you best!  :)   I add:  put together and maintain a backup/restore routine.

You are not stupid!  You, like me way back when, do not know what presently will serve you the best.   I just recently paid Costco $200 plus tax for an HP Chromebook for school use -- as a substitute teacher in high schools, I can, in piecemeal, take my various online courses.  Was that choice on my part a wise or less-than-wise, only time and effort will tell.
