While investigating my router problem I switched to McAfee antivirus and discovered that I seemed to have a new port scan every two seconds from different addresses. How can I stop this activity?

My router has been connecting and disconnecting for several weeks

Which and what router?
Windows desktop? MAC? Chromebook? What version of Windows and Edition? Fully updated?
Other devices connected to the LAN (home network)?
Are the port scans coming from the internet or from your LAN (home network)? Are these seen on the router or on the desktop itself?
What are these IPs that are doing the scanning? List of exact IPs? What are the incoming ports? What are the Protocols?
Did you have this issue before installing McAfee or realizing this after installing this AV? Is this the AV with a firewall or the Suite with a firewall? Other security products installed on the desktop?
Any other people using this desktop or are you the only user? Other desktops connected to the home network (LAN)?
Other software besides updaters and browsers that are internet connected on the desktop such as torrent clients or downloaders for example?
How did you reach this conclusion? Did a proper netstat to see what is connecting and where to?
