I am back! It looks like I have  a problem at my RAM, I did memory tests and all of them come with lots of errors.

What RAM do you suggest? 16GB is enough, I am not sure if I want to go for 32GB.

Also I did the memory tests tests on slots A and B which are the recommended slots to have  RAM in my motherboard manual.

I used the Microsoft Diagnostic Tool and Memtest86.

I first tried slot A + B by using two RAM sticks.

Then, I removed the RAM from slot B and tested slot A with only one stick.

Afterwards, I removed the other RAM from slot A.

Do you think I should also test the other slots?

Like slot B itself? Or slots C and D?

Hi, to be compatible with your i-9  10900K  Max Speed : DDR4-2933

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/199332/intel-core-i9-10900k-processor-20m-cache-up-to-5-30-ghz.html

Any brand name you want.   16 is good though Board can go to Win11 (myself would put in 32)., 1 more year of motherboard support from ASUS drivers, Windows

Suggest update BIOS to new release : BIOS 2801  Date : 2023/12/01 if have not done so.

https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-xii-hero-wi-fi-model/helpdesk_bios/

Improve system performance and security.
“Before BIOS update, please download Intel ME update tool from ASUS support site, and update ME firmware to Version 14.1.70.2228v4 to ensure optimized system settings.”
Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (M12H.CAP) using BIOSRenamer."

Yes test all slots in case it is a slot gone bad but would need 2 sticks of good ram.   So guess buy 2 matched sticks.

I will try your suggestions and reply!
My friend that owned these ram told me that he had enabled an xmp profile while using them. Do you think it will make any difference if I use that too?

If the ram is bad the ram is bad.  If the XMP Profile in BIOS is enabled disable or delete it and retest the ram and everything else as well.  It means start over.

If it is not enabled and were running without it then it means the ram is bad.   If have another system DDR4 ram speed about the same or a friend that is willing to test the ram or a shop, do so.

It is hard to take as is the reaction when we hear the word : NO.    lol :=}  :radioactive:

Let us know.how you make out.

I just tested 2 other sticks of DDR4 RAM using the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool, and no problems were found.

You were right!

Now I am wondering about the speed of the new RAM, but I see in the manual this: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-xii-hero-wi-fi-model/helpdesk_qvl_memory/?tduid=0b40a2dfc5248458e239da7a96c347c8&utm_source=tradedoubler&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=Future%20Publishing%20FI

The lowest speed is 4000

Do you have any suggestions?

The Motherboard can do what it wants, the chip says : to be compatible with your i-9  10900K  Max Speed : DDR4-2933

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/199332/intel-core-i9-10900k-processor-20m-cache-up-to-5-30-ghz.html

If wanted faster ram then should have explored chips and their Spec Sheet.

Sorry but why this is still going on is beyond me, the below is from your GtG thread, it was my reply #7 and dated October 30th 2023, note the particular emboldened in red;

The RAM is not appropriate for your CPU, Intel state here up to DDR5 5600MHz and if you have XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC will become unstable.

You should also make sure that the Windows Power Plan is set to Balanced and not High Performance.

Something to keep in mind for the future, a CPU must be compatible with a MB whereas the RAM has to be compatible with both the CPU and the MB, this because a MB can be compatible with faster CPUs than the one in your list of parts and MB manufacturers often state RAM speeds that far exceed what any CPU the board can handle.

Using the wrong spec of RAM and using pre used RAM is never a good idea, you having already being made aware of both facts I`m really not sure what else helpers can tell you.

If asked for BIOS Update look to see that it covers a fix for  : LogoFAIL firmware attack     ran across a BIOS Update today that said that it protected.  If not look for it again in the next while for another update.

I bought new RAM and after a month of testing everything works perfectly!

I never thought that faulty RAM could cause also corrupted files and failed installations.

Thanks a lot everyone!

It may have taken four months or so to believe that what you were advised was true but glad you got there in the end  :guitar:
