Hello, and thanks for the great insights...have been busy with February holidays, so can finally check in.

1.  BC, I couldn't figure out how to reinstall FF without losing my "stuff."  Am willing to do that if you can help with bullet point steps...thanks.

2.  No, I haven't been manually stopping Windows Defender.  Trying to think if I had anything else on here AV wise, but I don't think so, unless the

     Ebay seller or the subsequent repair guy had something on there.  I have used MBAM, but I think that was on my Mac Mini, not on here.

3.  Γειά σου, BSOD - All of my hardware is old...Peripherals, too.  I use my DeskJet840 C and my ScanSnap iX500.  I have a wifi dongle in a usb port for my wifi to connect with.

     I use Word and Excel, ThinkorSwim, TurboTax, Adobe Standard PDF, Nikon Transfer, and Family Tree Maker.  I need a program to watch video / play video / play dvd and cd with...

     would be happy to have your suggestion, as I have VLC plus some others.  I have 3 browsers but really only use Firefox.

     Pretty much any other programs / apps on here are just redundant or bloatware that got loaded and not used or minimally used.

     About power, when I leave my machine it either goes to hibernation on its own...like if I go do something else...or I put it in "Sleep" mode.  I either move mouse or key strike to bring it back up,

or press the power button once if that doesn't work.

Any pointers on getting rid of extra or bloat stuff (first grader level instructions, please LOL) would be appreciated.  Including anything not needed running in the background.

Great info from Pk so no need for any input from me regarding FF.

Trying to think if I had anything else on here AV wise,

We may need to check with AutoRuns but lets see if MTB lists traces of any third party AV;

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us if you will.
