KB5034441.

See here (& many other, similar topics all over the internet):

And here:

IF that's the case, the current advice is to HIDE that update until MS devises a workable solution. (All the other "fixes" entail complicated, somewhat risky computer surgery that's not feasible for most home users.)

Hi:

OK, if you have hidden KB5034441, then the issue at heart for this thread can be considered resolved, for now. Good job!

You'll definitely want to monitor the system to make sure that *other* Windows Updates install properly on future "Patch Tuesdays" & that KB5034441 stays hidden.

-----

As for Speccy and MTB: I asked for those earlier when it was not yet clear what was going on with the system. It's up to you, @sbutk1, whether you want to pursue "fixing" errors & whatever else may have turned up in those reports.

But I will say this: there appears to be an activation issue with your MS Office installation. While we are not here to enforce MS software licensing rules, it is my personal policy not to assist users who are intentionally using pirated or cracked software. As such, can you verify that your MS Office is properly licensed and activated?

Thank you

I’m quite surprised to hear you say that.  Apparently something in my data must suggest that.  Yet to the best of my knowledge I can assure you, this MS Office suite is registered and was purchased completely legally

On another point, if you’re saying that Windows Updates typically come out on Tuesdays, I think I’ll sit back and keep an eye out for what happens this time around, now that you helped me hide that one troublesome update.

Then, as you suggested, I’ll likely start a new thread to try getting the iPhone recognition problem resolved.

Well... if addressing that issue (and any other similar ones) could potentially improve the operation of this computer, then as MoxieMomma alluded in one of her latest posts, I'd very likely be interested.

Would you be able & willing to help me with that, if I was to create another thread for that specific problem?

Try the Windows Update Troubleshooter that Phil suggested.

If that doesn't work, the next step will be to Reset Windows Update:

Colleague MM is more than capable of helping you with this and I was merely mentioning something not yet mentioned.

Looking at the Speccy I am not sure that Windows update is broken?

I wonder if Norton is the culprit in bloking the phone connections?

I'm hardly an expert.

And Windows Event Viewer can be a bit of a rabbit hole.

Running the Windows Update Troubleshooter can't hurt.

OK, I only thought it was being suggested I open up another thread with what it was sounding like was another issue.

If I can keep getting help here in this exiting thread, that's certainly fine with me.

I'm hardly an expert.

And Windows Event Viewer can be a bit of a rabbit hole.

Running the Windows Update Troubleshooter can't hurt.

I did run the troubleshooter, and it said it could find no issues.

I then went to manually look for Windows Updates... and it said I'm up to date.

Looking at the Speccy I am not sure that Windows update is broken?

I wonder if Norton is the culprit in bloking the phone connections?

The Norton possibility did, indeed, just cross my mind, as well.  And it is a common thread among all 3 computers in the household that I'd mentioned.

Thus I'll temporarily disable Norton (with my browser closed, to be on the safe side), and see whether that makes any difference.

Thanks for prodding me to explore my own suspicion...  :thumbup2:
