Oops, I see a typo I made. I wrote in the last paragraph above "When I connected it with wifi to the extender, I got..." I should have written, when I connected it with the Ethernet to the extender, I got. My bad, sorry. I see why you wrote I didn't include results from the Ethernet connection test. You're right  on that point. The previous points I still stand by.

To new readers, at this point, I have been helped by BC members to focus the problem. I have an extension router, which is on the ground floor in our house. The main FIOS router is upstairs. I also have a desktop upstairs, which has fine speed and a laptop, which I use downstairs with the extension router. However, I have had low speed with the laptop, to the point that I reverted to an ethernet connection with the extension router. I just tested the speed when I connected the laptop with the main router upstairs via ethernet. IT was good: D = 82, U = 86 and P = 13. However, when I took the laptop downstairs and tested its speed using an ethernet connection to the extension router. It was only half as fast: D = 43, 29, or 36 (three tests), U = 9, 12, 14 and P = 16, 14, 14.    This connection is so slow that I could not maintain it during a Zoom meeting and was disconnected,. My question is, what is to be done? I ran Adwcleaner and found no problems. Any suggestions?

If you continue to be rude when I'm trying to help you for free this will be our last interaction.

It's clear this extender was not setup properly, or is just not working the way it should for whatever reason.  Either way I would assume that the Ethernet would be al little slower coming from the extender.

Who set this up, I forget now?  Did you even look at the Manual?

Des_Kahn quote: Your next sentence is incomprehensible: "I think the extender has auto duplicated your wifi ssid's and that is why you are only using the two you keep saying you are turning on and off."

Just because it is incomprehensible to you does not in any way mean it is to anyone else.  It means during the setup I was assuming that the Extender Auto duplicated your information in the router so that the extender would broadcast the same SSID's.

The Task Panel, or Task Bar is the bottom of most windows installs, where the start menu and such is.  For the third time now, you should be using the Wifi Icon in the Task Bar bottom right.  AGAIN, when you want to change connections, you right click "Forget" on the one in use now and move to the other one so we are on the same page.

It's clear then the router was not setup right so follow my directions with the manual to see what all the setting are.  Take a pic of the window in question.  Make sure MoCA is Enabled in the router and is reflecting the same in the Extender.

Show me the Wifi Window too in both devices!

Please post another speccy now but do File > Save as Text document, or something to that effect and Attach it to your next post.

If I don't reply right away it's because I'm waiting for Windows 10 to Update.

Thanks very much for your reply. It took me a while to respond because much of what you asked for were things I couldn't do because of different set-ups. For example, I never received a manual with either of my two routers. I just plugged them in when I received them. Now Verizon technician did connect the original router, I think. One also wired the extension router using coaxial cable, with no manual. I now understand what you mean by the task panel. I know it as the task bar. Actually, when I want to change connections, the word "forget" does not appear. There is some other term used. I can click on the wifi or ethernet symbol on the task bar, though, as you suggest. Again, no manual, so can't really follow those directions. I did take a Screenshot which I will try to attach, if possible. Previously, instead of using the task bar as you suggest, I went into Settings and checked and changed things. Currently, and I think this is variable, I have the best connectivity with the Ethernet connection, where my speed is good, around 80 mbps. Second best is with Wifi ( as it is named in the taskbar), i have only about 45 mbps for download and upload, and, with so-named WiFi 2, less than one mbps (150 kbps).

However, my biggest problem came one day where, even with the ethernet, I could not maintain connection to a Zoom meeting. I now think this is something that can happen during times of high band use, but it was disconcerting.

I tried to attach a screenshot to my previous post, but it didn't go through. First I hit "More Reply Options", then attached it, then hit another button. I'll try agian.

I don't see Wifi and Wifi-2 on the Wifi list?

Repeat: Good, all looks like it is working well!

Repeat: I left you the manual links!

Repeat: That is a low end laptop with all low end components so you should not expect much from it.

Due to our inability to communicate I'm bowing out of this thread.  If you are still having issues I'm sure someone will chime in that has more networking experience than I.

I want to thank mr pcpunk for his help, even though I did not always follow him, he was helpful on several fronts. I don't understand why I have only seen six  to ten replies, because at the top of the last page, I was informed there have been at least 30 replies to my posts. Where in hell are they? Is someone censoring the replies? Who can answer this question? Is there someone behind the curtain, as in the Wizard of Oz? Who runs BleepingComputer?

Yes, I see you did state that you had left the manual. I missed that statement. My bad. Yes, we had some communication problems, but I am still better informed than I was when I started this exchange. Thanks for your help. Des Kahn

Since the OP started a new topic relating to this problem, here -  https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/793554/problems-with-ethernet-connectivity-no-gots/#entry5605584 - this topic is now closed.

However he indicates in this second topic that his problem has resolved itself and every thing is now as it should be.
