The keyboard works fine.  It's just that momentary error window that quickly goes away during startup, probably just before it is recognized via bluetooth.

This is how it was shipped to me from Dell.

I would like to find in Windows 11 BIOS where in the Boot Settings Configuration for the Keyboard I can select for keyboard errors - "do not report" - to eliminate this alert window.

I've looked around in BIOS, feel like I am close, but haven't seen keyboard settings yet.

Hi, again:

You seem reluctant to try some of the suggestions offered. That's certainly up to you.

But if you're seeing an error message every time you start the computer with this KB, then something is NOT working properly.
Error messages with routine operation on new, properly functioning, compatible hardware are NOT normal.

If this were a common problem, the Dell forums would likely have (many) reports, but I could not find any.

If this were my computer, I would try to resolve the root cause, rather than hiding the notifications. But that's just my preference.

Without identical hardware, it will be tough for any of us to replicate your issue or deep dive into BIOS settings.

Your best bet is still an escalated Dell TS ticket (perhaps with a remote session), as only they will know the finer features & nuances of their proprietary BIOS/UEFI settings & configurations.

I hope someone else offers better advice to resolve your issue.

Best of luck

If the keyboard is working properly (quite nicely, actually) and the system kicks out a useless brief yet annoying alert message, then in my view there is nothing wrong - but the error reporting process.

If someone else could point me as to where in Windows 11 BIOS the Boot Settings Configuration for the Keyboard so I can select for keyboard errors - "do not report" - to eliminate this alert window, that would be great.

Did you do my suggestion of Device Manager, delete the keyboard or keyboards and reboot.

That is the standard fix.    The system will reinstall the drivers as it boots up.

=============================================  Until this has been tried I suggest that no further action on this should be taken by others.=======

I will say that you have Significant issues in your MTB Report.     I would actually recommend a Clean Install to fix them.

It is a lot of work to figure out the Security issue that was noted.  Which is something you have done.

I tried deleting the keyboards and reboot.  No change.

I should point out that Dell had me flash the BIOS, install various drivers - graphics, memory card, Intel Mgmt Engine Interface Driver, Intel UHD, Intel Chipset....all of which did nothing.

Maybe I should send this machine back to them since you say they sent it to me with significant issues.  It runs very nicely for the most part....the keyboard alert flashes for a couple of seconds on start then it works normal.

It sounds like nothing serious if it happens at boot.  Just late registering the driver for some reason/acknowledging that there is a keyboard.

If it is not effecting anything then it is rather a benign problem.    Tell them you want a M/B replacement if it bothers you or effects the loading.

If you're getting an error message that says "Alert: Keyboard initialization error" on startup, you can try these steps:
  1. Press and hold the Windows key
  2. Press the i key
  3. Select Update and Security
  4. Select Troubleshoot from the left panel
  5. Look for Keyboard in the Find and fix other problems section, and run the Troubleshooter

I did try that again, it found no errors.

As Pkshadow pointed out in the last post, it is more likely a benign problem with late registering of the keyboard driver on startup (which has been my view all along).

Currently:  Startup ==> no usb keyboard? ==> error message> oh, wait, my bad, a bluetooth keyboard ==> remove error message and continue startup.

Should be:  Startup ==> no usb keyboard, but let's also check for a bluetooth keyboard ==> yes, bluetooth keyboard ==> no error message and continue startup.

Yep, but that's still anomalous behavior that one would not expect on a new Dell PC with a new, compatible, Dell KB.

This thread has become very long....
I may have missed it:

-- What happens if you use Wifi mode, not BT?

-- Have you checked to see that WiFi & BT aren't clashing?

-- You mention having updated BIOS & several drivers, but I didn't see BT drivers or BT "pairing" drivers on that list?

Having said all that, if you're fine living with the error, so are we. :-)

Cheers

Hi, know have done extensive stuff with DELL.   From Start --> Search type Programs and Features -->Uninstall any Bluetooth Software then Left Side check --> View Installed Updates (will switch to New Look/place then Click on Windows Update -->Up Date History-->Driver Updates and uninstall any Bluetooth Drivers from MS there.

Make change doing this as best as possible for Win Home : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/146562-prevent-windows-update-updating-specific-device-driver.html as it is for Win10 but should work for Win11.

EDIT : They changed the page, sorry.  (Do want to block rather than below)

Can continue with this MS Tool to Hide the Bluetooth Updates with the MS Show or Hide Updates Tool : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-update-faq-8a903416-6f45-0718-f5c7-375e92dddeb2

Download your DELL Bluetooth Driver then open Device Manager delete Bluetooth Keyboard and Reboot, install driver.

Thanks so much for all the fix attempts and tips.

I've been through so much of what has been suggested that it is hard to keep track at this point.  I'd need a scrapbook, flowchart or spreadsheet to record it all.

Anyways, I'll just leave it as it is for now and let you help other users with undoubtedly more pressing problems since this seems to be benign and I can live with it.

If I do eventually come up with a resolution some day in the future I will post the fix here.

Again, thank you....

Over the past 30+ years i have received many of them mystery pop up messages, you learn to just let them pass if your system is working ok, who knows what codes have been reused in the OS and just how the OS has been checked before putting it out.

I also have noticed after an update you quit getting many of these messages.

Agreed.  30+ years for me too, same thing.

I noticed Dell is presently going through a lot of layoffs now too.

Who knows what minor test slipped under the radar prior to this machine getting shipped out.

Anyways, I'm quite happy with it, quite frankly.  Two Nice Dell monitors, Dell keyboard works great, Logitech mouse.......all with the Logitech Flow on multiple machines.

For many, many years I put an XPS8500 to the limit and it performed great, multiple other machines too (Dell Inspiron, Sony, ASUS, yadda yadda).
