Anyone wondering if they have Signed drivers?

open cmd.exe and type

driverquery /SI | more > %SystemDrive%\Users\AccountName\Desktop\sindrv.txt

that will print a list a Signed Drivers to a text file on your desktop with all installed drivers and state True or False for Signed drivers. Make sure to Replace "AccountName" with your User account name on the machine.

This may help eliminate or diagnose some driver problems within Vista as this can be a go to Reference for our Signed drivers

[i]I have Windows Vista Premium. My printer is just a small HP Deskjet 3520. I can't get the printer to load on my computer because there is no driver. I had this printer on an older computer before with XP but this one isn't compatible with Vista. Are there supposed to be alternative drivers somewhere to be temporary fixes until updates are made? If so, could someone post where and which driver to use? Thanks.

According to this link you'll need to download an "alternate" driver: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...968&lang=en

I've just installed Vista, and am very new to it. Anyway, my friend told me that i didn't have to install any driver for my hardwares. I'm still not sure about this, but my printer works properly without me having to manually install a driver.

Does this mean that i don't need to install any drivers manually?

If it is working properly, I agree with usasma.

It is possible that you might get some additional "utility" features, such as print head cleaning or remaining ink level indicators, if you can find specific Vista drivers on the printer manufacturers website.

Hello people

I have a HP Pavillion dv2065ea (dv2000 family) and I installed windows vista ultimate. I have a problem though; I hear sounds I mean vista found some sound drivers and I went to hp's website and downloaded some drivers aswell but the problem is that its only 40% of the sound I had with XP. its to silenced (if its what its called in english) the sound is not to high and in vista its 100% :\

the sound output I use is called "internal speaker/headset" I dont know how to solve this or what to do but its kind of annoying since I can't hear anything if I am 2 meters far from the computer :\

pointZ what you can do is as follows:
send an email to the company that creates those usb adapters, tell them that their vista drivers won't work and ask for help. If the company hasn't released drivers for Vista then there isn't much you can do..

While I'm not familiar with this particular driver, the latest release was BV (Before Vista). So, contacting the manufacturer for suggestions or an updated driver is your best bet.

If that doesn't work, try running the program compatibility wizard on the installer. You can get there by going to Control Panel (not in Classic View), click Programs, and under Programs and Features, click Use an older program with this version of Windows.

If that still doesn't work, locate the folder that the driver installed into, and then make every darned executable in the folder run in XP SP2 Compatibility Mode and have it also Run As Administrator.

Good luck!

First I would like t understand if there is a difrence between running the wizard as you sugested. and just right clicking the file and under compatibility selecting wondows XP sp2 and selecting run as asmin.

I tryed what you said and did this on all executable files and still have the same problem.
also i would like to add thats the software for configering the wireless network does open for 3 second or less and than just disapire. i can still see it after it disapire in the task manager.

Is there a difference between running the wizard and just selecting compatibility options?

Frankly, I'm unsure - but an additional dialog box that I spotted when using the wizard makes me think so. This dialog asked me something to the effect of "Do you want the program that you're installing to run as an Administrator?". This leads me to believe that it applies the compatibility settings to the program once the installer has finished running.

If none of the above tips work, try selecting the installation location to be in one of the Public folders - this may allow the program to work (but I'm just guessing).

Alternatively, you could log in as the actual Administrator and see if that works - or you could disable UAC and see if that works (but re-enable it once the program is installed).

Try previous versions of the driver also. I've had some luck with earlier versions working where current versions won't (I've seen it in mouse drivers and video drivers - but dunno of any for network drivers).

I found a solution. took me couple of hours but it works. basicly what i didt is. I went to my local computer shop and bought a new wireless USB adapter. this time i made sure it has a vista driver. and guess what? it works. yeepies
and on a more serios note. thank you for all the advice. by the way i dont think there is a difrence between the property tab: competability of the file and the wizard. you can also select run as an admin under the property.
thank you again you are doing a great work.
now thats im online i need to go and find the rest of the driver from camera to sound card. may god be with me.
