Surprisingly, Windows Update appears to be working today (September 26) on Windows Vista (and reportedly also on XP). If you need to update a recent installation, my advice is to ACT FAST! Speed-up patches are presumably still needed for Vista.

Hi Abzyx & VolumeZ,

 Thanks for the timely information / Alert. My Vista PC got updated hassle free. Now I see a Green Tick on Windows Update - No New / Important Updates (something like that). It gives me a great relief. It seems that after all MS is going to keep Win Update services ON for quite some more time ...... lets hope for LIFETIME!    :sombrero:

Hello VistaTime,

Im glad you updated your Vista promptly! Unfortunately, it looks like M$ has already shut down Windows Update again...

:hello: Hi Abzyx,

You don't have to watch Windows Update on daily basis.

I am sure..... MS will keep Windows Update ON at least for some time ... once in a month for WinXP and Vista.

Too many users ..... for a limited number of servers at MS.

So Keep Calm and wait for your turn!

Tell me if I am wrong.....  :notanangel:  !

Hello VistaTime,

Im afraid you are probably wrong - in fact you may have been the very last person ever to update Vista by means of Windows Update.

:hello: Hi Abzyx,

Is it so? :tophat:

Then someone please tell me how to make a clone? What freeware for cloning is best on Vista, etc.?  :cowboy:

Hello VistaTime,

Excellent question! I would suggest Macrium Reflect Free for making images or clones, and I am sure that Imacri would agree. This was discussed on page 3 of the nearby thread, A request for advice regarding setting up a sensible basic build with Vista.
