If this is your Windows 98SE / Windows 2000 boot drive, then I would have ordered an IDE Hdd

With the TestDisk program, I was able to see all the files in the CF and restore them. Obviously it's just a test. I am interested in recovering the CF, but every attempt to Erase the partition or format has failed, It seems locked. The file system is damaged.
If the files can be viewed and recovered, I think CF too, the problem is how.
I have tried EaseUS CleanGenius and IM-Magic Partition Resizer Free but they can't solve the problem.
I also tried SD Card Formatter, but nothing ....

I found this thread. Pointertovoid user says they have Transcend CFs that appear as hard drives. Do you know something about it?

I found an answer for a guy on this topic, regarding using the ATCFWCHG.COM program if it worked on all brands:

I cannot answer if it's working with any brand. But maybe another hint: Transcend cards are somehow smart enough and flip their fixed disk bit on their own.

Cheers,

Florian

I also found this as an alternative:

I have found that OEM Compact Flash cards are sold already set up to be seen as hard drives. Now sandisk no longer produces.

Reading this I discovered Transcend industrial CF seen as hard drives.

Buy a Hard Drive and quit messing with compact flash, and that could be your entire problem.

Unfortunately I can not, to replace the disk and put another, it is not so easy with this PC. I have to take out the whole power supply, to get the old disk out and put in a new one.
The disc output is behind, ustruida from the power supply.
A CF is more comfortable.
In addition to faster reading and writing of the mechanical disk.

A CF is highly unreliable and shouldn't be used to boot an operating system from.
