What's broken on you MF264DW? What's the symptom? Are you aware that some printer repairs can be done fairly easily by the user?

Stay away from HP. They recently had an issue where they locked up the printer from use if it had a non HP cartridge. Before that they had an issue with network printers not working because of some sort of firmware issue. Before that they had network printer broadcast an advertisement over the office network.

Old news, friend. Read upthread, where most of this has already been covered.

It may be old news, but if your going for the best printers take a look at this information

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 6978. While I like the printer, I have a problem with HP telling me to use their ink. For a while I was able to use non HP ink cartridges and then all of a sudden fount out that the printer stopped working. I consulted the place where I purchased the non HP cartridges and they sent me patch to downgrade the firmware and advised me to set my printer not update. Now it is working again.
When it is time for another printer it will not be an HP!

I find it hard to believe HP won't find a way to bork that printer and arrange for firmware updates.
At the risk of being pompous, here are my sentiments on printer ink

I am not the only one who does not like HP telling people to use their cartridge. End of Story.

Fact of life: The printer manufacturers sell their machines really cheaply and make their money on the in k. A bit like the Razor Blade makers make their money.
You get the razor for almost nothing, but only their blades fit it

Sure, but of course it wasn't always that way. When I was (a lot) younger, I installed HP Laserjet workgroup printers on a network. Seeing page counts of 1.5 million pages wasn't unusual. Even the consumer/SOHO printers like the LJ2100 worked for a long, long time.
I only bought my Canon because I was working on a legal case, and needed duplex printing/scanning at higher speeds.

If that were true then HP isn't doing themselves service with their HIGHLY CHEAP AND AFFORDABLE INSTAINK PROGRAM Please see my screenshot if the notification I've been charged for ink due to printing 10 pages. They have higher priced plans, and even then they are cheaper and 100% approved ink.Fact of life: The printer manufacturers sell their machines really cheaply and make their money on the in k.
