It seems that my many week long struggle could have come to an end. Quite anticlimatically, but if this is how I get it resolved, I'll take it. It seems I am entering the market for wireless mice. I thank you all for your efforts and guidance, I have learned something new and got some crucial updates done thanks to ya'll, even if they didn't happen to be the solution to this odd odd problem.
