"In other words, do something, anything, everything?

When and how are you going to start up the necessary industries especially when it's obvious government subsidies will play a major factor, a very major factor in their creation.
And it doing that, how would you avoid corporatism and corporate socialism?
Should the government be the creator of industries? This is even sounding a bit like socialism.
Who owns these industries?"

Why mention socialism?
American own these industries.

"In a free market economy, how are you going to accomplish this?
Legislating what can or can not be sold to the citizen?
If an American industry is unable to compete head to head within the US, who is going to buy our products on the world market?"
  being applied."
Never mentioned a free market with these trade embargo in place or severe import duties.
Domestic market and the usual global markets for U.S. products.

"No.
The Germans were underway with nuclear experiments and our involvement would have eventually occurred.
Fortunately, we were involved and destroyed their brief lead.."

Maybe the Nazis have an A-Bomb by the estimated late 1940s.
Maybe the Russians would have defeated the Nazis.
All speculation by both sides of our argument.

"I say BS."

Duffer.

"sending supplies and military goods isn't enough

It's been the recent lack of material support that has been detrimental to the Ukrainian cause."

That is only a temporary stop gap for the Ukraine problem.
Without military forces allying  with Ukraine, Ukraine will lose due to attrition and destruction of the infrastructure and overall loss of troop numbers (compared to the Russian's vast number of troops).

"Got some saved, yes I have, but it's rather pointless to save more for old age, instead I just spend the incoming income and enjoy life a little better.

LOL....Maybe you just don't make enough."

Well at least some one will enjoy your wealth after you are gone. Grandkids maybe will spend it for you.

"Spend it now because we may be dead soon from old age so enjoy it now and you can't take it with you!

Sounds great till it doesn't work out and you are dependent upon me sharing with you LOL!!!"

Highly doubtful. By any means or ways of your vivid imagination.

I share but it seems you don't. So what was your point exactly?

American own these industries.

Made in ****** is so common place, again, what needed new industries do Americans own if it takes governemnt funding to create them?

Never mentioned a free market with these trade embargo in place or severe import duties.
Domestic market and the usual global markets for U.S. products.

There will be no 'usual' global market for US goods that can not compete.

Trade embargoes and severe import duties have been shown to adversely affect US business/manufacturing interests while punishing the consumer at the same time.

How can any business in a protected market compete on a world stage? It makes no sense in a capitalistic economy.

But it can be made to function in a socialist economy where values are defined by need and socialist oversight.

All speculation by both sides of our argument.

Of course. The concerns are, which 'maybe' is more likely.

No issues were made at the time....

"Again, you are incorrect.
Obama was weak, but the advance of Russian expansion temporarily halted in absorbing all of Ukraine."

So what exactly were the issues made or raised at that time about the Crimea?
Refresh my memory for me please.
It's been a while since those Obama days.
You could explain some of those details for me.

It probably wasn't Russia intent to invade Ukraine at that time, the Crimea was just one of the first step taken in the many step plan to conquer Ukraine and gain a stronger foot hold into Europe. So no intervention was actually needed for stopping further Russian expansion into Ukraine.

Or we could be both wrong!
With a different unexpected turn of events in the course of things at our present time.

That is only a temporary stop gap for the Ukraine problem.

The Ukrainian army has proven itself to be effective.

But the lack of weaponry is essentially, game over OO.

I share but it seems you don't.

Dan calls that virtual signalling..... :grinner:

Yeah, I 'share' when I donate to charities.

But lazy individuals that demand I share, get a lot of push back.

So what was your point exactly?

Don't expect anything from me under situations/scenarios that benefit your pleasure.  :grinner:

Your funny! Why should I expect anything from you? Or need anything from you?

Or want anything from you. You jest!

I have enough and am grateful for it.

Benefits? None are needed from you. Or ever were. I have all of those already and much more.

God is Grace.

Instead give that 'anything' to the immigrants coming into the US over the borders or to the Ukraine military.

Or to the poor and needy that live in the States.

Seems like they need it.

You could explain some of those details for me.

I could.

But will I?

No....a time waster for me, your historical knowledge seems well enough to remember and it wasn't that long ago.

But you can read this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_occupation_of_Crimea

and the failings of Obama:

https://www.brookings.edu/articles/dont-rehabilitate-obama-on-russia/

I could get you more links, but google is your friend.

Yes that is all all nice and good. But I asked for your explanation.

Not from Google.

I see this is "time waster for" you.

OK very good then.

But you are wasting your time in the thread anyways so what is the difference between these two?

Expecting this thread to turn into Democrats vs Republicans, gun laws, illegal immigrant border crossing, some other Senate fiascos, Supreme court judgements, and some other hot topics.

You shouldn't :grinner:

Or want anything from you. You jest!

Sometimes, the smilie is often my tell  :grinner:

If you lived next door, you would want.....lol!

But you'd have to save for it first :grinner:

I have enough and am grateful for it.

Good to know and hope all works out for you and yours.

Benefits? None are needed from you.

Great.

Know I know you won't be disappointed :)

Instead give that 'anything' to the immigrants coming into the US over the borders or to the Ukraine military.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Or to the poor and needy that live in the States.

Seems like they need it.

Good idea.

And Duffer to you too :)
