I don't know any where I worked rotating shifts that were divorced.

Of course not.

Yeah I took marriage advice from them and it's worked out well as they were old enough to be my dad and a couple even worked 2 full time jobs in a 12 hour rotation. They had terrific marriages with successful children.

Dan is right.  I haven't met anybody who divorced their spouse on the grounds that they worked 12-hour shifts.  In fact, normal people tend to show love and appreciation to their spouse for it because it shows that they are willing to take on such a responsibility to support their families.

Lack of intimacy is the number 2 reason for divorce in the USA.

In fact, normal people tend to show love and appreciation to their spouse for it because it shows that they are willing to take on such a responsibility to support their families.

Right LOL on what planet?

The biggest problem today is young people want it all and they want it now and are not willing to work for it.

EG.

A young couple in their 20's marry,

They want a huge house, huge back yard, 2 new cars, swimming pool, nice clothes, nice furniture and all that and they want it now so they put it all on the plastic then the wife gets pregnant and stops working and all of a sudden its up to the husband to make all the money and to do that he has to work 70 plus hours a week to support that life style the wife quickly gets annoyed and seeks " satisfaction" elsewhere, and that could be alcohol, drugs, the arms of a lover etc and thinks he no longer loves me because hes always at work.

Those of us that are in our 50"s and 60"s and have been married for 20 plus years do not know how lucky we are. Up to 60% of the younger generation will never have the opportunity and it gets worse if they divorce and remarry

The wife in your situation likely behaved like that in previous relationships and the husband was as we say in the states WHIPPED and blinded by lust and not love.

Not sure what you are saying, Nick.  If your wife starts to work 12-hour shifts to support your family, you are going to divorce her?  No offense but that makes zero sense.  It seems like you just want to say nay to everything I say ever since that thread in the Speak Easy.

I wont argue with that as you make a very good point. he or she married the other because they were a hot bit of a$$, happens all the time among the rich and famous and there are some spectacular divorces and settlements as you know, a hooters waitress can end up with 250 million dollars because she married and had a child to a sports star.

IMO young people marry for the wrong reasons, for example lust, Having that trophy wife on you arm might look good now but what about in the future?

Dan, while I am not a fan of hers, I think Melania Trump is a great wife to Donald she has stuck by him through thick and thin and continues to do so and I do not think its about money or power, Shes mainly out of the public eye and she could have divorced him over his affairs and been set financially for life, but shes still there.

And she has no worries about Baron, after all hes a Trump and say what you will about the father he has always provided for his children, Even Tiffany was looked after and as Trumps of course they could get a good job in Trump org regardless of qualifications look at Don Jr and Eric.

If your wife starts to work 12-hour shifts to support your family, you are going to divorce her?

Me? NO,

But it happens all the time in the real world and that's what you don't get.

TODAY... a young healthy attractive in the prime of their life male or female is not going to sit around waiting for their husband or wife working 6 pm to 6 am 5 days a week at home, and if they do go out there are always opportunities to stray and it happens. It can also lead to problems like domestic violence where after a few years one party hates the other.

I mean why would a young wife that lives in a million dollar house, drives a expensive car,has a number of credit cards, can buy clothes like they are free go to beauty salons, eat ice cream covered in 24 carat gold think of ever taking a lover, and even going so far at to kill her husband not instead be grateful to him for providing her with everything?

If someone is willing to cheat on their spouse just because they work 12-hour shifts, he/she would have cheated even if the spouse worked 8 hour shifts only.  It would probably take a bit longer to happen, that's the only difference.

Anybody who would stray because their spouse has to spend some time away due to work is the biggest, most immature child.  What happens to his/her marriage should be of no concern to us.

And yet infidelity is the number 2 reason for divorce right after domestic violence. Why is that?

Its all about time and opportunity. If your going to cheat you likely cheated in previous relationships.

I don't know the answer to that because I am not a sociologist.  But what I do know is that anybody who cheats on their spouse for working hard to support their family is a PoS and should not concern us.

I cant argue with that.

However its human nature to be attracted to that opposite. The good girl will always be attracted to the bad boy, and the good boy will always be attracted to the bad girl type.
