UPDATE:
One blunder led me down the river of dread. When I installed the new hard drive, I removed a memory module (DIMM) I believed was in the way. However, the module was not in the way. When I replaced the memory, I left a gap at the bottom whereby the module was not locked in. An abundance of issues led to this mistake: Freezing, No email access, could not access anything online. After four hours, I decided to look again inside the ATX tower case and that is when I noticed the memory module not seated properly.
When I corrected the error, I received updates right away from Service Pack 1. It appeared as many updates failed. However, I was able to reinstall Windows Live Essentials and get the Windows Live Movie Maker. I was also able to reinstall Microsoft Security essentials. Prior to installing MSE, I installed Avast and Total AV; one worse than the other as each kept pestering me with 'ads' and kept intruding on everything: 'An annoyance'. MSE is great security software that I would regard with any of the top security software's, including Sophos Cyber security in my opinion. This was truly a task. Apparently the Windows 7 servers are still working.
I did rectify the MP4 videos not playing. It was not any codecs for I checked the link in my Windows Media Player as it showed all the necessary codecs. The video files were not corrupted as they played with the VLC Player. This had me stumped as not any could help me in this area including experienced software people. I did not realize that many knowledgeable IT specialists are weak or have limited knowledge in terms of container formats. I thought the problem may be related to the updates, yet never stated that fact. In updating Service Pack 1, the videos which did not play and showed an i-Tunes icon immediately changed to a 'picture' icon. Now, I do not need the VLC Player. Yet, that program is excellent and I would highly recommend VLC to everyone. The only problem is that one cannot extract the video, 'just watch'.
* I have the original Microsoft EXE. install for Windows Live Movie Maker and for Microsoft Security Essentials. Those programs could not install without Service Pack 1 which I believed was the issue.
I have a question. Do I need to install Service Pack 2 and 3 for I cannot see where I can obtain those Packs, at least with no virus or malware. Any assistance here is greatly appreciated. I wish too thank everyone for their outstanding support.
