Hello.

I have a regular computer display (an Acer Predator), which is the one I mainly use with my Window 11 computer. But, sometimes, I like to use my big-screen TV (an LG OLED 77C1) as the computer display (when playing games; viewing some videos played from my computer; etc.). The TV is connected to the computer using an HDMI cable and runs through my AV receiver (a Denon AVR-X4700H).

Normally, Windows 11 recognizes both the regular display and the TV and it is just a matter of switching between the two devices in Windows Settings. But, lately, Windows has not been recognizing my TV, just the regular computer display. This, despite the fact the physical connections have not changed. I replaced the HDMI cable with a new one. The connection was restored for about a day before disappearing again.

I've tried disconnecting the cable from the back of the computer while the computer is powered down, then inserting it while the computer is powered on. That worked, briefly, then stopped. I've tried eliminating the connections to other devices connected to the computer, to no avail. I've tried playing around with various settings on my receiver, also to no avail (unless I missed something).

What could be causing my computer to just no longer recognize that another display is connected to it—especially when it had worked well with no problems for a couple years?

Please help.

Is there any updates that could be done to your reciver to fix maybe a bug?

Thanks for the good question.

I just checked and there is currently no update available for my a.v. receiver. It already has the latest firmware. Also, I just verified that I'm already using the most recent update for Windows 11.

How about your TV does it need an update, I know these are weird questions to be asking about TV's and Receivers.

Another good question. I actually had not updated my TV's software in a while. I just did so.

If I recall correctly, I had kept the TV disconnected from the net because the TV kept displaying ads and other popup messages. But, by doing that, of course, I forgot to update the TV's software.

Interestingly, I can connect to the TV directly wirelessly via my WiFi network, which I hadn't even considered. So, moving forward, that could potentially be an option. I would still prefer an HDMI via my AV receiver, since I would think the TV performance would be better via HDMI, it's nice to use my surround speakers and all my other AV devices are run through the receiver.

In any case, my computer still does not recognize my TV using the HDMI connection via the receiver, even after the update to the TV's software.

I just had the same thing.

Though it sees the LG OLED and connects but the connection keeps dropping when it did not before.

Gave up and went and bought a heavy duty internet 13ft HDMI cable I can stuck under the rug.

Already forgotten about it almost.

No idea if this is a Win 11 issue or not, I just dealt with it and got back to life.

My TV is also connected using a long, heavy duty HDMI cable, as it always had been. But, it's still not working.

The receiver and the TV continue to remain undetected by Windows when connected via Ethernet. So puzzling.
